Frequently asked questions
Which devices does BlueTerm work with?
BLE devices with the Nordic UART service (common on ESP32 and nRF52 boards) connect automatically. For BLE devices that use their own UUIDs, open the GATT explorer and pick the notify and write characteristics. On Android, paired Classic Bluetooth serial (SPP) modules such as HC-05 and HC-06 also work. No hardware yet? Try the built-in simulator.
Why don't HC-05 or HC-06 modules show up on my iPhone?
iOS does not let apps use Classic Bluetooth serial (SPP). On iPhone and iPad, BlueTerm works with BLE devices. Classic SPP modules work with BlueTerm on Android.
How do I open the terminal in my computer's browser?
Connect your device, then open the Bridge screen from the terminal's top bar. Set an access password and switch the bridge on. On a computer connected to the same Wi‑Fi, scan the QR code or type the address shown, then enter the password. Keep BlueTerm open on the phone — the bridge stops when the App goes to the background.
The browser can't reach the address. What should I check?
Make sure the phone and the computer are on the same Wi‑Fi network, not a guest network or one that isolates devices from each other. Turn off VPNs on both, check the full address including the port number, and keep the Bridge screen open on the phone. On iPhone, allow BlueTerm to access the local network in Settings.
Is the bridge secure?
Browsers must enter the password you set (at least 6 characters, or 8 if it is digits only), and repeated failed attempts are locked out. The bridge is served on your local network only and nothing passes through our servers. Because it uses plain HTTP, use it on Wi‑Fi you trust and switch it off when you are done.
How do I connect Claude Code, Cursor or another MCP client?
Set the bridge access password first, then turn on AI agent (MCP) on the Bridge screen. Tap Copy command and run it on your computer — it contains the address and the MCP key. You can show, copy or rotate the key at any time. MCP works while BlueTerm is open.
What can an AI agent do in the free version?
It can read the connection status, the live log, channel values and saved captures, and wait for a pattern to appear. Sending commands to your device requires BlueTerm Pro. Commands sent by an agent are marked MCP in the phone and browser terminals.
Is BlueTerm Pro a subscription?
No. BlueTerm Pro is a one-time lifetime purchase with no automatic renewal. It removes ads and raises the limits for AI agents, automation, captures, history, browsers on the bridge, scrollback and macros. There is no free trial; the free version stays usable.
How do I restore Pro on a new phone?
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchase while signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. A purchase on the App Store cannot be moved to Google Play or the other way round.
Where is my session history stored?
Only on your device. Every connection is recorded automatically. The free version keeps the last 5 sessions and Pro keeps 100; the oldest are removed first. In the History tab you can search a session, share it as TXT or CSV, delete it, or delete all history.
Why does BlueTerm ask for Bluetooth or location permission?
Bluetooth permission (Nearby devices on Android 12 and later) is needed to scan for and connect to your devices. Android 11 and earlier require location permission for any Bluetooth scan; BlueTerm does not read or store your location. On iPhone, local network permission lets a browser on your Wi‑Fi open the bridge.
Can I try BlueTerm without hardware?
Yes. Choose the simulator in the device list. It streams sample sensor data so you can try the terminal, plot, bridge, automation and captures.
How do I export or back up my data?
Share sessions and captures as TXT or CSV from the History tab and the capture screen, or export terminal data as CSV or JSON. Settings › Data › Export data backs up your settings and automations; it does not include session logs, passwords or the MCP key.
How do I change my ad privacy choices?
Open Settings › Ad privacy options (shown where it applies, for example in the EEA and UK). On iPhone you can also turn tracking off in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. BlueTerm Pro removes ads completely.
How do I delete all my data?
Settings › Data › Clear app data deletes your session history, captures, automations and settings from the device. Uninstalling the App removes them too. To ask us to delete records on our server, email app@mint-soft.com.
